If you are charged with a traffic violation or crime in Phoenix, Arizona, there is a large possibility that you will have to go to the Phoenix Municipal Court. The Court is among the top ten busiest municipal courts in the United States and is the largest municipal court in Arizona. It handles approximately 250,000 charges a year, including 80,000 criminal charges.
Cases Handled By the Phoenix Municipal Court
The Phoenix Municipal Court handles cases that range from minor traffic violations to Class 1 misdemeanors carrying a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $2,500 fine. The court handles such cases as: DUI; reckless driving; leaving the scene of an accident; drag racing; child restraint violations; vehicle insurance and registration violations; moving violations (speeding, running a stop sign, traffic signal, etc.); unpaid parking tickets; assault; shoplifting; prostitution; indecent exposure; and trespassing. The court also handles Orders of Protection and Injunctions Against Harassment.
Hours of Operation
The Phoenix Municipal Court is open to the public on weekdays from 8:00am-5:00pm. The Court is closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and after, Christmas Eve (close at noon), and Christmas Day.

The Phoenix Municipal Court is located at 300 West Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85003 in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
Parking is available at a reduced hourly in the Public Works Garage located across from the Court at 305 West Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85003. Bring your parking ticket to the Information Booth in the Court lobby to have it validated.
